My first foray into the video world – I’ve uploaded to MySpace a fun shot at Nicole featuring man and looper getting funky at the Left Bank last year. For some reason it doesn’t seem to work in Firefox, only in Internet Explorer. Can any more intelligent readers explain this?
A post on the Impossible Songs blog prompted me to remember, of all things, The Worm Song, which I learned from Madame in our early days:
Nobody loves me, everybody hates me
Think I’ll go and eat worms
Big fat juicy ones
Wee skinny skooshy ones
See how they wriggle and squirm
Oh you bite off the heads
And you suck out the juice
And you throw the skins away
Nobody knows how I survive on
Worms three times a day.
Hmmm – is this what brain cells are really for?
what about this one:
“I’m a cute little wriggly worm
I haven’t got any hair so i don’t need a perm
I’d rather be out in the rain & the blizzard
Than filling up space in a blackbird’s gizzard
Just a wriggly little squiggly little worm…
wriggly wriggly squiggly squiggly squirm squirm squirm”
(the words may not be exactly perfect)
It’s a classic.
My god, there’s a whole sub-genre of wormicana!
As a scholar of wormicana, I am intrigued by Lindsay’s worm song – any music to go with that? However, I must take issue with the other worm song, the definitive version of which I give here:
Nobody likes me
Everybody hates me
Just because I eat worms
Short fat hairy ones
Long tall skinny ones
See how the little ones squirm
Bite all their heads off
Suck all the juice out
Throw the empty skins away
Nobody Likes me
Everybody hates me
Cos I eat worms all day
By the way, the Nicole video played fine for me on Firefox and very splendid it is too. Dig those seventies psycho delic shaky camera shots. No worms, though.
There is music for the squiggly worm one, yes! Maybe we should have a worm-themed ootb sometime? Then all these can be aired 🙂 Or we could expand it to “worms and other creepy crawlies”, I’ve always wanted to cover “Boris The Spider”.
