Got some gigs coming up: acoustic gigs – possibly with the new band – at the Forest Cafe (21st May) and The Listening Room (30th May) and the 'challenging' sound of Bespoke at Henry's Cellar Bar (19th May)
At the Forest Cafe I'm opening for Ms Fi and the Thomboys, Townhouse and Sam Barber and the Outcasts so it should be a special night.
Not only that but I'm being a Thomboy for Ms Fi at Ruby Tuesday in Hanover St this Tuesday and hammering the mandolin on a couple of songs for Nelson Wright at The Listening Room on May 9th.
Here's a cover of a fairly unknown Bruce Springsteen song Club Soul City. I recorded this a couple of years ago for Simon Kempston, who was organising a Springsteen tribute night. Simon and I sang it, and this was for him to learn it from as I'd lost my copy of the original. The original was on an album by Gary 'US' Bonds, produced by Bruce and featuring the E Street Band on every song. If you like The River period Boss – short, snappy pop songs - it's worth looking for.
