Modest Country Waltz

This little tune popped into my head on the short drive back from my ju jutsu class tonight. I ‘heard’ it as a wistful opening credits to some gentle Western.

Thanks to having software I can rely on and a bit of privacy I was able to record and mix everything in two hours. I couldn’t find a bottleneck so initially used a small glass to play the melody; it wasn’t good enough for the lead line but mixed far away it lends a nice, slightly strange feel to the melody.

I don’t really hear it as a theme now, somehow; I don’t expect to take it any further but here it is, I like its modesty. And how many Lamont tunes come in at under 3 minutes? (‘Not enough.’: the plain people of Scotland)
