Every spare minute has been spent making final edits and remixes to the album. The deadline looms – mastering in Stirling on Monday. Tonight Mary came over to replace some synth violin with the real thing, and we added a completely improvised string quartet to one song. Although she accepted it probably wouldn’t sound like violins by the time I’ve finished with it. The final piece of recording will be a tambourine part tomorrow, replacing a sampled one on another song.
The electric band – which may once again be known as Gravy Spiders – reconvened on Friday night and spent two hours playing well, after a couple of rather ropey sessions with long weeks between. Perhaps we’re galvanised by the prospect of a live performance in a pub near the studio during November. Or maybe we’re finally learning the repetoire after three years and one gig.
Back to work …
