Here’s hoping some of you can go to my gig on Sunday night at the Village (South Fort St, off Ferry Road) (map). Starts 8:30. There’ll be someone else on, but I don’t know who. It’s run by Simon Kempston, who you should hear. I haven’t played a solo gig for about a year, and this afternoon ran through a set list which should cover most of the bases, but the beauty of a solo gig is that I can depart from the set list and do whatever I like!
I’ve lifted myself out of the gloom about my CD and it’s back on track. It was an inevitable stage in the journey when you’ve gone too far to turn back but the destination still looks near impossible. But now I have a track list, which may be pruned, and I’m asking a few people how it hangs together and what should be dropped. The contenders, in no particular order, are:
- Roadblock
- The Chase
- The Spell
- Best of the Blues
- When I Came Home from Egypt
- Dorothy’s Book
- Sword of Love
- Come With Me
- I Want to Know
- Anywhere But Here
- Other Things
Some of these are already about, but they will be partly or fully redone. I’ll give away a few CDs with tracks from this at the gig.
The Wright Brothers reconvened last night and worked on some new material; Nelson’s off with Lindsay Sugden and her Storm to a gig at the Hope and Anchor in London this weekend – good luck!
