I know that not many of my readers are in London, but you never know who’s going to drop by. On Saturday 18th I’ll be playing an afternoon matinee at Camden’s Green Note Cafe in support of my friend Adrian Whittaker who’s launching the second edition of Be Glad, the book he co-edited about the Incredible String Band.
The lineup for the afternoon will include Malcolm Le Maistre of the ISB and various musical luminaries singing their favourite String songs. I’ll be doing at least one of my ISB medleys and the ensemble have plans to finish with a rendition of one of the band’s longer songs, uncovered as far as I know by anyone. I’m sworn to secrecy. I’m no longer the ISB nerd I was when Adrian and I wrote articles for the fanzine, but running through these songs again has revived my appreciation of the poetry of Robin Williamson and Mike Heron.
