A couple of items to share with you. First the sublime. This is a video shared by Momus on his blog a few days ago. The music is by someone called Haushka and the beautiful film by a Jeff Desom.
As for the ridiculous, well it’s really rather beautiful in its own way. Maybe you’ve had the experience of looking on consumer goods sites for reviews of, I don’t know, a TV or a food mixer or an MP3 player. You usually find a mixture of the inane, the helpful, the pedantic and the downright thick. But you don’t usually find an essay that brings you into someone’s home so that you end up feeling like you know Dad, Mum and Nan. I stumbled on this while looking for a steam cleaner. I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much!
OMIGOD! While checking that the link worked I discovered that Penny, the author, has written 59 – fifty-nine!!!!! – reviews of everything from Asda Beef Curry (‘I think I’d rather have eaten the scabby dog!’) to Mr Brain’s Pork Faggots (‘Offally good for you!’). What a strange world we live in!
